Overview

Everything that Vanguard does in the ‘verse is going to take money and nobody knows how to make money like Frontier Wing’s Commerce Group. Where Transport is org facing, Commerce is ‘verse facing. These are the dyed-in-the-wool traders, merchants and commercial passenger pilots. Consummate entrepreneurs to a fault, if they see a demand they supply it. This is one of the few groups that can generate UEC at consistently high levels and as such find themselves as a keystone to the success of the org as a whole.

Mission

Provide safe and reliable transport of organizational assets. Conduct profitable commerce in various commodities. Establish and manage facilities that expand Vanguard’s influence across the galaxy.

Squadrons

Commerce Group is divided into three squadrons, each with their own expertise. A Commerce Group member’s placement in a squadron reflects their desire to focus on a specific mercantile discipline. While members will often be called to fill different roles across the Commerce Group, Frontier Wing, or the Vanguard organization in general, the following squadrons are dedicated to the mastery of their respective interests.

As long as there are people in the ‘verse, someone is going to need to get somewhere. Vanguard Passenger Services takes great pride in providing safe and reliable transportation to most destinations in the galaxy. We have travel solutions for the commuter trying to get back and forth to work every day. We can accommodate the throngs of people wanting to visit the sandy beaches of Cassell. And there’s always an Orion crew looking to get some R&R while their ship is being offloaded at an orbital refinery. Our quick trip shuttles have high frequency runs down to planet-side for a price. As a Vanguard pilot, it does not matter if you have a Genesis Starliner or an Argo MPUV-P, if you have a seat there’s someone with a fistful of UEC waiting to fill it.

The economy is a living thing. Commodity prices pulse like a heartbeat and nothing gets our blood pumping like flying a big ship laden with expensive cargo. Of course, we manage the risk the best we can but nothing is as satisfying as navigating those trade-lanes and selling that ship full of laranite. Nothing, maybe, except watching our bank accounts rise. But that’s not for everyone, and for those of us on the less adventurous side taking on a contract to haul a shipment for profit is right up our alley. I mean, our customer paid for the cargo. They are paying for our time and expenses now. All we have to do is get that shipment to it’s destination on time. Whichever way you prefer to do it, you will be known as a hard working space-trucker or logistical engineer. Take your pick.

Rogue Traders have never had much use for the safe trade lanes. Sure, its steady dependable work, but the REAL money - that’s out here: on the fringes, on alien worlds, in places where people don’t frequent. It’s our domain. There are things out here for which people will pay a premium. Rogue traders relish words like “handcrafted”, “rare”, “exotic”, “high performance”, and “possibly illegal”. We use the words “discreetly delivering” instead of smuggling. If you want to deal in low volume/high value and you are willing to go places and do things others can’t or won’t, this is the place for you.
